Phrax had been surprised at this sudden outburst of supernatural beings. Many were carefully disguised, but his nose picked them out far more clearly then any blood test or signs could. It was when he was hunting a herd of Deer, near the town of La Push, that he once again caught the strange, slightly altered scent of a Werewolf. It almost stung his eyes as the second wave of smell fell upon him: Beauty Products. These things he hated with a passion; it blinded his sense of smell to everything else. The good thing was it made the wearer incredibly easy to track. And this time, that was good. Phrax had come to this town to live a few decades quietly as a teacher, before moving on. Towns and people came and went to him- he was Child of the Night. But these...He had always known there were some who had survived the great Culling intialised by The Volturi. He was the reason. But he didn't expect to find two in a few days. A few centuries maybe.
The old Wolf zipped up his combat jacket, slipped his hunting knife into it's sheath, and closed his eyes. 2000 years of practice was more then enough to be able to follow a scent with his eyes closed. With his speed, his eyes were literally drain away.
He accelerated with the force of a speeding truck, and followed the scent. He could almost see it, such was the strength of his nose. But, finally, he came to a road, and- opposite- strode a young girl, black haired. A single sniff, and he knew it was her. But there was that extra edge too it. He couldn't quite smell it, but he could remember it from the other one, and he more felt it. He looked down and realised his face was covered in bristles, his clothes were soecked with dirt and dew, and he was blatantly staring at her.

'Why is this person staring at me? It's almost like he came out of no where.' That was all I could think as I stood alone. He looks about half my age. There was something off about him... I could smell this earthy sort of tone in the air, mixed with the smell of blood. I sniffed, then moved my hand back to brush back my hair. I made eye contact with him and gasped with surprise and fear. He had a murderous gleam in his eyes. He was filthy, covered in dirt and soaked. I yelled to him, "Why are you staring at me like that?" I took precaution, however, ready to run at any given moment

Phrax flinched in surprise. He hadn't quite been aware that he was staring at her. The shock of meeting another one of his kind quickly subsided. He didn't what her calling the cops. He felt something underneath his skin as he called out "Don't you know what I am? What YOU are?" He said, brushing off some of the dirt speckling his jacket.

I smiled sarcastically. "I know that I am Alina Faye, and that you're just some person who I've never even seen before in all my life that is staring at me." I paused for a second, then called out hesitantly, "What's your name?" I thought that this guy was off his rocker- What the hell did he mean when he asked if I knew what I was or what he was?

Phrax sighed. Probably just another kid who came across a Wolf. No harm in checking, however. "Sarcasm is the lowest form of wit. My name's Phraxius. Phraxius Decimus Venator. And you." He said, poiinting at her. "Smell exactly like a dog." It was the best way to accuse her without seeming more like a nutter. Phrax was prepared to turn round and continue hunting those Deer, but something nagged at him to stay.

My jaw dropped a little. "I what?!" I yelled indignantly. That Phraxius dude just pissed me off extremely. "What the hell is that supposed to mean?! You think you can just walk over and stare at me, then insult me? And by the way, you look like you've been rolling around with dogs!" I rolled my eyes. Who did he think he was, just walking over (more like running) then saying I smelled like a dog. I growled a little at the mere thought of what he just said. My perfume was not dog scented.

Phrax grinned, showing canines unusually long. He couldn't hide the pure mirth and amusement from his expression- All Teenager girls were the same. No matter what time period you ventured into. "I hike alot. Maybe if you ventured into the forest ,that is conveniently placed right next to you, you wouldn't look like you just ate some of your siblings." Phraxius just couldn't resist baiting some people.

I backed up a little. "What's with you teeth? And I had a feeling that you were implying something... weird when you asked if I knew what I was. Tell me, Phraxius, what am? I mean, what am I exactly? From what I know, I'm a normal human, but you are obviously implying something that is exact opposite," I said to him cautiously. Before I knew it, I tripped on a root and fell backwards. I got up and muttered quietly, "Ow..." Well that just ruined my whole speech. I frowned slightly as I felt the blood rush to my face.

Phrax looked straight at her. She didn't know. She actually didn't know. The old Wolf cursed himself as he stormed across the road to her, his face pitying and worried. He whacked himself hard on the forehead before offering his hand to the now-fallen Alina. "I won't hurt you. I'm a school teacher in Forks. "
He had made a mistake that he should've grown out of years ago. He had thought she knew. No, he had assumed she knew. Now he berated himself for his assumption.

I sighed and took the offering hand, then rose off the ground.. "Fine. I believe that you are a school teacher, but I also believe that you are keeping something from me," I said, brushing the dirt off my clothes. I whipped some of the sweat off my forehead and said, "Sorry for being so rude earlier. I've never gone to school in Forks- Only La Push, so there is no way I could've known you from anywhere."

"No way you could've known." Phrax echoed, as he pulled her up to her feet. He decided to be blunt yet deceptive. It wasn't his choice to drop the bomb shell of her heritage on the girl. While he wouldn't of minded, his sense of honour kept him in check. "I am hiding something from you. Something you'll eventually find out by yourself. Until then, I have no right to tell you." He touched his fingers to his fangs, now concealed.

I shrugged again. I was used to adults not telling me stuff- My dad sure as hell never did and neither did Billy Black, Jake's dad. "Of course I have to wait to find out myself. Thats always the story. By the way, you really don't have to try to conceal your teeth- I know they are there," I said sarcastically. Yeah, I say a lot of things sarcastically.

"I know it 'sucks', but believe me now, if I told you, you wouldn't believe me then." Phrax said, taking his fingers away from his mouth. "But I'll tell you what I am. But you must promise not to scream, tell anyone OR think I'm joking. I'm not." He pinned her with a fierce gaze. It wasn't cruel, just warding.

I felt a shiver up my spine. That gaze was killer. "I promise... What are you?" I asked nervously. I wasn't one for screaming anyways. And I was pretty sure that this guy was telling the truth. If not, then I should really ask him for acting lessons. I laughed inwardly at that. Then, I crossed my arms and looked straight at him, his look no longer effecting me as it did before.

"I'm a Wulfen. A Lycanthropos." Phrax watched Alina, before he saw that she had no idea what he was talking about. He closed his eyes. "Basic latin..." He muttered, before slowly holding out his hand. He clenched and unclenched it, and suddenly, the nails had melted into grey, metallic claws. "What creature in mythology has claws, fangs enhanced senses, great speed and strength, an incredible senses of smell and, here's the crux, changes at the full moon?" He asked her, sure she would get it.
