Esme had decided to take a midnight stroll. The night was so beautiful she couldn't resist the temptation to just take a leisurely stroll. She went into her and Carlisle's room to get ready. She grabbed a pair of hiking boots and set off to look for Carlisle. Once he was in her site she ran over and gave him a hug and a light kiss. She was pleased he was home.
"Would you care to join me for a midnight stroll, my Love?"

Carlisle returned the hug gently but lovingly. He refused to urge to squeeze her, to take joy in the scent, her very presence, everything about her. "I would care for it greatly, Esme, my love." He kissed her again, this time passionately, before taking her hand. "How have things been?"

Knowing he couldn't resist spending some time with her she was glad he said yes. She kissed him back as he kissed her passionately. She slipped her hand behind his elbow and rested it there. She began to walk towards the door to take a step outside.
"My day has been fairly quiet, my love. I tended to flowers and read mostly today. All in all a very relaxing day." She said very smoothly as they walked outside the front door.
Outside the clean crisp air was intoxicating. She took in a deep breathe to enjoy the smell of wet forest. Getting closer to Carlisle her face nuzzled at his shoulder to take in his scent and their surroundings. Returning to her original stance next to him still holding his arm she asked, "How was your day, my Love?"

Carlisle took a few seconds to clear his mind of his love before examining his day. It was a simple enough day for him aswell. "It was nothing too strenuous, Esme. A man came in after a power drill fell on him. It was a simple matter of internal bleeding. No bruising, but I had a hunch. Other then that it was simply checking up on the rest of my assigned. Mr.Stanley has improved, thankfully." He smiled as he tapped his nose. He looked up, revelling in the simple harmony of the animals.
He chuckled as he came to another topic. "What about the rest of the family?" Carlisle asked, with a small smirk on his lips.

"You are such a good man. I don't think this town could have a better doctor than you, my love." Esme was proud to have such an amazing husband. She hadn't thought for a second in her old life that anything like their love was even possible.
As he asked about the kids she made put a finger to her cheek and looked up at the moon. "Hmmm. You know I have not seen the kids all night. They must be running around causing mischief. I don't know how we've managed teaching them how to behave....No I'm sure they are fine but they haven't said hello to their dear mother today." She smiled as she looked into his eyes and gently brushed his cheek with her hand that was previously on her face. She absolutely loved the man she was taking a stroll with.
"Isn't it a lovely night? I saw the night sky and couldn't stay away." She took a deep breath of the air again.

Carlisle chuckled as Esme spoke, her voice dancing around his ears, giving him a rush of love for the woman simply by being there, breathing. It was one of those lines that cropped up so much, but Carlisle realy could not imagine living with Esme. He loved every minute of being around her, her simplest action bringing him joy.
He smiled, placing his arm around Esme's waist and taking her hand with his left. "Could any other town, city or village boast the most beautiful woman that ever lived, or ever shall? No. The children will continue their schemes and plans, but we have taught them well. Ever since that night in Wisconsin, I knew we would have the rest of eternity to teach them, to shepherd them, and to share with each other."

Esme simply kissed her husband. "You flatter me. I don't know what I did to deserve you, my Love. But I'm glad I did it. I'm pleased that this little town can handle our beautiful entire family. I could not have asked for a greater person to spend the rest of my life and raise children with." She was always taken aback by how handsome her husband was. She thanked whoever it was up there whom had allowed her to be with the greatest man that ever lived.

Carlisle smiled, kissing Esme lightly again. "I would be flattering you, if it was not the truth, but it is. Now, we must discuss, once again, the 'incident' that occured recently. I greatly fear The Volturi may soon hear of the events that occured. I fear what will happen if they do." His face quickly turned slightly sullen by worry, as if this had weighed heavily upon his mind for awhile, He hoped, no, he knew Esme would understand the need to discuss it.

Esme's smile faded and her face now showed the importance of the topic at hand. She loved her husband more than life itself and then her love was also shared by their children. She knew this discussion had to be. It was for the safety of their family. She had been worrying herself over this unfortunate event and was hoping that maybe this event would go un-noticed but that was a very low hope.
"Yes my love, I have that same fear. Do you think they could see our side of this event? Our Edward has found love....."She broke off for a moment. Her fearful eyes met her husbands."What is your fear."

Carlisle sighed deeply, imagining the hundreds of things that could happen to his Family if The Volturi truely desired. None of them good. But there was one that stood out above the rest, one very possible.
"If they arrive, and see that Bella has not been turned, and there are no chances of that happening soon, they could do anything. They have been strongly opposed to Human-Vampire relations for a very long time: They are very traditionalist." Carlisle pursed his lips slowly, clearly thinking.
"It would shatter Edward's heart to see Bella forced away; they're love is strong. Emmett invited much when he killed James- Victoria and Laurent will not forget that." Carlisle rubbed his eyes, overwhelmed for a split second by the expanse of the situation. He recovered quickly, smiling at Esme.
"Can we not hope for the best?" He spoke, optimistically.

Esme was distressed greatly to see her Love in this state. Her palms were now on her husbands shoulders she clung to him. He needed to know that she was here for him and that she would do whatever it took to ease some of his worry. As he spoke she tried to come up with a solution of her own but couldn't.
"Edward is set on not turning her. He doesn't want her to live our life. He is so strong willed. I don't think he could turn her anytime soon though she seems willing enough." Seeing Carlisle smile was contagious.
"We can look at the bright side, my Love. I only hope we have the strength to deal with what comes our way. What preparations should we care for in case we do get a surprise visit from the The Volturi." Esme still holding tightly to her husband. They needed to discuss things with each other before taking it to the children.

Carlisle's resolve doubled as Esme's strength shone through to him, and he visibly stood up a little straighter. He kissed Esme, thankful. "I think the most we can do is make the House look as regal and pretentious as possible. Other then that, I'm not sure. But be warned. Aro and Caius, two of the key members, are incredibly ambitious and therefore dangerous."
After saying this, he looked into Esme's eyes and smiled once again. "You're right. It'll be fine. The children will understand- they must." Carlisle's worries were still there, but they were greatly dampened. After all, there was always the chance that his fears were unsubstantial and would be proven false. That thought stilled his nervousness.

Esme was proud to be the wife of such a strong man. He always surprised her with his ability to be calm even when worried. "Making our home pretentious shouldn't be hard. It is in good shape already. We can go through the attic and see if we have anything to spuce up our home." She smiled at her husband.
"We have very bright children, my Love. They will understand what precautions need to be taken to ensure their safety and ours. As long as we believe we will prevail, anything is possible for us to endure." She hugged her husband and lingered resting her head on his chest.
