Nichita had been in town for a few days now, but was just finding her way to La Push. It was a quaint little town; nothing too flashy, just simple. It was nice and comfortable here. She really felt at ease, which was a good thing, all things considered. The streets seemed to be empty as she walked through the town and she was quickly drawn to a gated area. Once she was close enough, she noticed what it was. Must be the reservation cemetary she thought vaguely and she followed her gut and stepped through the open gate. Walking through the rows of graves, it didn't take long before she ended up at one that looked fairly new. Brushing away the leaves from the headstone, she tried in vain to hold back a gasp. Here lies Nomi Peone Beloved Mother 1966-2006 What the hell? Why is my mother's body, ashes rather, in a cemetary in La Push, Washington? she thought angrily. That anger quickly turned to sadness as the pain she had been holding in for so long surfaced and she fell to the ground, crying.

I was walking through the cemetery when I saw this girl fall to the ground, crying hysterically. I ran over to her quickly and kneeled down next to her. "Hey, are you okay?" I asked. I then snook a look at the grave she was in front of. Nomi Peone... Where have I heard that name before? I made a mental not to ask someone later. I looked back down at the girl. I hadn't seen her around before, not even at school. She must be new here.

Nichita looked up at the girl through watery eyes. "I'm fine," she assured her. Of course she wasn't, but lying was like second nature to her now. Choking on a sob as she forced herself to pull it together, she caught the scent of werewolf.
Gosh, what is up with this place? she thought randomly, I must have stumbled into something here.
It seemed odd to her that she could find both vampires and werewolves living so close together, basically in the same town, and everyone was fine with it. She had never come across vampires and wolves who were civil with each other, her parents excluded.
Sending out a silent prayer to whoever was listening, she was thankful that this girl would only be able to sense her wolf side. Unless there was something different about her as there was with that Leah girl. It still baffled her as to how Leah smelled both the wolf and the vamp in her.

I paused, not letting her get away with that answer, for it was obviously not true. I sighed and said, "No, you're not okay. You're kneeling in front of a grave crying your eye out. And what's that really good smell?" I sniffed. It was sweet, but foresty... Like a strawberry or something. I ran my hand through my hair and asked jokingly, "What kind of perfume are you wearing and where can I buy it?"

"Don't worry about me. I'm a big girl," she said, forcing a smile. She wasn't about to reveal any information to this girl.
Shrugging her shoulders she said, "It must be from that restraunt I ate in earlier. It smelled like strawberries," she said. Well, that was better than the truth and it seemed that the girl couldn't smell the wolf or vamp in her. That was always good.

I smiled. "Oh, okay. If you want me to leave I can... I'm Alina," I said. I stood up and moved a little back. "I'm assuming you're new here, right? I normally know everyone in La Push." I smiled at her and asked, "What's your name?"

Nichita shrugged. "Not sure if I'm new here. I've been looking around Forks and La Push for a couple of days trying to decide if I want to stay or not," she said quietly, her eyes not leaving the headstone.
I'm Alina.
"Nichita," she said quietly. A few formalities wouldn't hurt anything.

I smiled. "Nice to meet you! I could introduce you to some of the gang sometime, if you want. I'm sure they'd love to meet you!" I said. "You'd like them- Especially Jake. He's like the nicest guy on the freaking planet. You can't help but smile while he's around!" I said. I always liked Jake- He was my closest friend since middle school. Course, he also is the only guy I've ever liked down here.

Nichita raised an eyebrow. "Sure. Maybe we could do that now? I really need to take my mind off of some things," she said.
Meeting new people was better than running. She now realized that she needed to stay in this area, if only to put the pieces of this puzzle together and find out why her mother's charred remains were buried here.

I smiled and said, "Sure! I really have no clue where they are though..." I began thinking where some may be. Maybe the beach... "We could check the beach later today, if you want."

Nichita smiled and stood up. She had to look up just a bit to look into the girl's eyes. Nichita herself was only 5'1" and so she was used to the fact that most people were taller than her.
"Sounds like a plan to me. I haven't been to a beach in forever," she said with a smile. Lake Michigan had been her last beach trip before everything happened, and it might be nice to have the sand on her skin again.

I smiled. This girl was shorter than me, but that was normal. I was taller than most girls. Boys, however, were normally taller than me. Take Jake for example. "Yeah, the beach is really awesome! So many people hang out there. By the way, how old are you?"

Nichita laughed, "I just turned 18, but people tend to think I'm like 14 or 15 because of my size. But, hey, I'm fun sized. There's a lot of stuff you can do when you're this small. Although, looking so young doesn't help me in the guy department," she said thoughtfully.
This girl was obviously younger than her, but that was fine by Nichita. It seemed that she got along with younger people better anyway. There was usually a lot less drama.
"So, when are we going to meet these friends of yours?" she asked.

I laughed. "Actually, I have no idea! I was waiting for them to show up when I saw you... Hopefully soon. Anyways, I'm 15. I just look a little older!" I giggled again. I looked at her and saw something familiar in her face. "You look familiar..."

Nichita laughed, "Ah the irony of age and looks," she said.
She began to walk away from the headstone, making a mental note to come back later. "I look familiar?" she asked, "how so?"
That was most definitely weird since the only ones of her family living were her and her sister, though nobody here knew that.
