Charlie. That was an easy enough obstacle to get around. Though she would hate the fact that she would have to leave him for a few years until she had everything under control.
"I've thought it all out, Edward. After graduation would be perfect. He could think that I'm going away to school or something. It wouldn't be all that hard to pull off. I don't care about the pain that you all keep telling me is involved. I'm sure that I've dealt with a lot worse sometime in my life," she said, thinking about all of the injuries she'd had as she turned to look at him.
"I want you to be the one to change me, but if you won't, I'll find somebody who will," she whispered, closing her eyes against whatever reaction he may have to that statement.

"Seriously. I can't believe you wasted time making up lies to tell Charlie", Edward said, starting to get impatient "I have an idea. Why don't you just... Go to college? You see, that's what normal people usually do. I would go with you. But please, just stop wanting this for yourself", he asked, trying to get calmer again. This wasn't a subject he liked to talk about, mostly because he knew that Bella wouldn't change her mind just like that.
Edward frowned slightly when Bella said she wanted him to turn her "I. Won't. Do it", he said, pausing at the end of each word. "And the others won't do it as well. They wouldn't dare to", he said, loud enough so Alice and Jasper would hear him.

Bella shrugged. "I never said it would be someone in the family," she said. Then she pushed past him and went over to the couch where she began putting on her shoes. "There are others out there, you know that," she said.
She wasn't going to let him take this from her. She loved him dearly, but who was he to decide how she lived -- or didn't live as the case may be -- her life. "You say you love me," she whispered after she got her shoes on and grabbed her coat, "and I kind of understand where you're coming from on this, but it is my life. I want to be with you forever, just like this, I don't see how you can object to that," she finished as she reached the front door.

Edward sighed when Bella pushed past him and started to put her shoes on. He was trying his best to keep his voice tone calm and easy. But he hated when Bella started to talk about this, and the way she seemed so convicted always made him feel uneasy. Edward was slowly starting to loose control.
"You wouldn't do this to yourself", he said, his voice cracking in the middle of the sentence. Edward followed Bella when he saw she was about to leave, and took her arm. What she had said previously about the existence of vampires other than the Cullens living in Forks was certainly true. And the thought of Bella asking any of them to change her was enough to scare Edward. "Please don't do anything stupid. Please", Edward asked, tightening his grip on Bella's arm.

Bella spun around when she felt Edward's grip on her arm. Leaning up on her tip toes and placed a lingering kiss on his lips. Leaning back, she barely contained a wince as the grip on her arm tightened.
"Edward," she whispered quietly, "I promise you, I'm not going to do anything -- yet. I told you, after graduation. We still have a year of me being human. A year for me to convince you," she said, an unspoken "Or find someone else to do it," hanging in the air between them.
She didn't want to leave -- to be alone tonight -- but she didn't want to stay, either, if this was the way things were going to be right now.

Edward sighed. "There is no way I am going to change your mind, am I right?", he asked, even though he already knew the answer. Bella wouldn't change her mind that easily, she made it clear enough. But yet, the thought of her wanting to wait until graduation to do anything somehow made Edward feel a little less concerned. He would still have a whole year to think of ways to convince her not to do it.
"Do you really have to go now?", Edward asked Bella after a few moments. "I mean, I can give you a ride home if you want to", he offered, "But still. Why don't we just sit on the couch, and talk about something else?"

Bella sighed and gave up on trying to pull her arm out of Edward's grip. It seemed as if Edward was letting the conversation go for now, for which she was grateful. She put her thoughtful look on and tapped her foot impatiently in thought.
"Well, let's see," she said quietly, "go home where it's quiet with Charlie at work, or stay here in a soon to be house full of Cullens," she said, flashing a smile at Edward. The decision was totally up to him.

“Ouch. That’s a hard one”, Edward joked, pretending to be undecided as soon as Bella presented the options. “But yet. I think it is indeed a little late for you to be in a house full of vampires. You know, they all have to get to their coffins and all”, he joked.
The thought of being alone with Bella seemed to be quite entertaining. Not that they wouldn’t have fun there with Edward’s family, but the feeling would be a little different if they were alone. Edward put his hand on the doorknob, and, after whispering the words, “I’ll drive”, he opened the door for Bella.

Bella smiled at Edward as he opened the door for her. Always such the gentleman. She said, "Bye Alice, bye Jasper," knowing full well that they could hear her. Then she stepped out onto the porch, pulling her jacket on. Walking out into the light drizzle, she headed straight for Edward's car. Slightly impatient to be alone with him, she climbed into the car and waited.
What is taking Edward so long?
Okay, so she was more than slightly impatient, but that was fine. She laid her head on the head rest and started to hum a song.

When Edward spoke of no one else turning Bella Alice winced slightly and pulled away from Jasper, moving to sit on the counter. Alice stayed perfectly still in the kitchen listening in out of habit more than actually trying to spy on her brother and best friend.
Soon the two had changed the subject and Alice was glad. She shook her head, rolling her eyes slightly as Edward and Bella decided to leave, shaking her head as a small vision came to her. "I'm starting to see why Edward gets so annoyed at us sometimes," she said in a joking manner before hearing Bella call from the front door a goodbye.
"Bye Bella," she called back.

Jasper frowned slightly as Alice pulled away from him and sat down on the counter.
“I highly doubt you of all people need to ease drop,” Jasper replied in a whisper with the faintest smile as he looked at Alice sitting in the kitchen.
“At us? Now what makes you think he ever stops being annoyed with us?” Jasper asked with a small grin as he heard Bella call out from by the front door.
“Bye Bella,” Jasper called out after Alice had sounded her goodbye through the kitchen.

Edward watched as Bella got out from the mansion. "Bye guys. See you later", he called out to Alice and Jasper over his shoulder. At this point, Bella was already inside his car, and Edward locked the door of the mansion with a little haste. He hurried toward the car, opening the driver's door as soon as he arrived. Bella was already sitting, so it was pointless to open the door for her.
Edward turned on the radio and smiled at Bella. Slowly, he pulled her face closer to his with both hands. He wanted one kiss before they started their 'journey' to Bella's home. "I love you", he whispered, and then kissed her gently on the lips.
