Bella sighed as she walked across the street and over to the park, bundled up in one of those poofy coats from Newton's store, a scarf, hat, gloves...the whole nine yards. It was cold outside, yes, but for once it wasn't raining and the night sky was clear.
She walked over and took a seat on one of the cold swings, rocking back and forth gently, her eyes glued to the night sky. It wasn't very often that one got to witness the beauty of the stars and moon in Forks, Washington. And the timing was perfect.
The school semester had just ended, Christmas was right around the corner, and despite a few new minor bumps, bruises, and scars, Bella was happy.

Jeez, not again. Lily thought to herself as she awoke from another nightmare.
This wasn't unusual for Lily. With all the happy people around and everyone getting ready for the holidays, it brought back memories for her and even though many were happy memories, at night her mind could do nothing to stop the bad ones. Though they weren't her normal nightmares, they were a lot worse than they used to be. She had an odd feeling that the change in her dreams had something to do with the strange people she kept meeting.
With her dreams haunted by the images of her parents, Lily knew that she wouldn't be able to go back to sleep that night, so she got dressed, threw on her coat and shoes, and went out for a walk.
Lily welcomed the cold night air as it took away her lingering drowsiness and began walking, not really thinking about where she might end up.

Bella had been lost in thought over nothing and everything at the same time. Alice would probably be coming to drag her out Christmas shopping soon, most likely within the next couple of days. Laughing a bit, she shook her head and stood up off of the swings. It was late. She should be heading home before Charlie started worrying.
With her head down to fend off the cold breeze, she started walking. A moment later she bumped into someone. "Sorry," she said, freezing at the flash of red hair before her. It took her a moment to get her bearings and she just barely held in a scream.
"Hey Lily," she said, pasting a smile on her face.

Nothing like a head on collision with another person to bring you back to reality.
As Lily balanced herself she heard a familiar voice say hey and looked up to see Bella standing in front of her.
"Oh, hey Bella. Ah sorry about that. I need to remember that I have to start watching where I'm going in public."
