Alexis pulled the sleek black Lexus sedan to a stop at the edge of the last public roadway near the forest. She assumed Carlisle Cullen would be able to find her, should he chose to meet with her.
She knew so few people in town-so to discover a family of vampires so close was fascinating. How, exactly, did the man work in a hospital, and send his children to public schools, so discretely? Even she hadn't had that type of luck over the years.
Alexis stepped from the car, her black and gray print coat swirling over her black dress and knee high black boots. She leaned against the car, certain they all blended into the night. It would be good if she could make some vampire friends-or allies rather. Alexis prefered to keep her distance-least she be sucked into another coven that found roaming the snowy wilderness a good time.

Carlisle had been slightly surprised at the message. It had been a while since he had encountered a Vampire that approached him so discreetly and shadow-like. He drove his black Mercedes S55 AMG down to the very edge of the forest that he often hunted in, before spotting a beautiful black Lexus pulled up at the side of the road.
The Women leaning against it would truly have been invisible had he not been looking for her. Carlisle pulled up the Mercedes about 10 or 15 yards from the Lexus, and stepped out. He was immensely curious, but also cautious. He did not quite know what to make of this new arrival. His instincts told him to atleast talk to her.
The man casually strode up to the Car, and spoke in a clear, quiet voice. "Good evening. I presume you are Ms.London?"

Alexis turned her eyes in the direction of the car's sound. She watched the Mercedes pull in behind her car. A man got out and approached her.
For a long moment, she listened as he spoke. She waited before she answered, deliberately taking her time as she examined him, sizing him up, and debating if this was in her best interest.
"Alexis London." She said in a low voice as she extended her right hand to him with a gold ring bearing a small black onyx and two tiny diamonds set on either side of it on the third finger.
"It's a pleasure to finally meet you, Dr. Cullen. As stated, I've seen you about the town. Thank you for meeting with me. I wondered if you'd come."

Carlisle took the hand and shook it precariously. He was not quite sure what to make of this new arrival. What he did know was that he could scent the unmistakable hint of Vampirism upon the woman.
He pursed his lips, searching for the right words. "I considered not arriving, Ms.London. I thought it polite to atleast greet you. May I ask what brings you to this place? And what drives you to contact me?"
He knew the answer to the last question, but he needed to hear it from the horse's mouth, as they say. How had she found out about his family? Why had she actively sought him out? All questions that needed to be answered in time.

Alexis drew her hand back and slipped her hands into her coat pockets. She leaned back against her car and nodded thoughtfully. It wasn't a surprise to learn that he had considered not coming-she would have considered the same thing.
"I'm don't like to have my time wasted, Dr. Cullen, so I'll extend you the same courtesy by cutting right to the chase. Don't think I'm not grateful for your time, of course, but I don't wish to keep a busy man away from his career and family."
Alexis smiled, leaning back to press her palms against the car's door. She was fascinated to hear exactly what Cullen had to say-but she supposed she was going to have to be slightly less illusive herself.
"My desire for a town slightly smaller than Seattle brings me here." Alexis raised one hand to brush her thick black hair out of her face. "I'm certain you've caught on to the fact that I'm a vampire-as you are. Naturally, as any vampire does, I began my time by checking out the local hospital-where I encountered you, of course. Forks is a small town, people talk; you've a wife, three boys, and two girls I believe?"
"I contacted you because I'm interested," Alexis met Cullen's eyes, holding them, "on how we can make it work that so many of us can live in this town-and feed-without anyone noticing. I know how I've done it in the passed, but now I want to know how you and your family do it. I want us to be acquaintances, Dr. Cullen, and I see this as our greatest challange."

Carlisle's brow creased a bit in a look of slight question. It quickly evaporated, his thoughts coming into a clear pattern. He nodded slowly as Ms.London spoke, making mental notes about her based on the woman's demeanour, car, glasses, etc. He, however, latched onto the word 'feed'. "We do not feed from humans, Ms.London. I long ago decided that humans and Vampires could live together in a sense of harmony. The Quilleute Tribe has a certain treaty with us that prevents either party breaking it's rules."

Alexis looked at Dr. Cullen, her mouth forming an "O" of surprise at his words. Vampires who didn't feed on humans? Well, that was certainly a first. She'd seen a lot of things, but never that.
"Did I hear you say that you don't feed on humans, Dr. Cullen?" Alexis asked the question for the sake that her hearing might have failed her for a microsecond. "But you're a vampire, what else do you feed on? I mean, what else is there?"
It wasn't that Alexis had a problem with humans-they were fine, of course. But they were food. She saw them much as humans saw cattle-pleasant enough to look at, but not worth having around unless you were hungry.

Carlisle pursed his lips, almost in anger. Mentally restraining himself, he breathed deeply, and spoke clearly. "Ms.London, you will find that there are many creatures that will satisfy our Vampiric thirst. Yes, Humans are shall we say, the most tasteful, but I long ago tired of seeing people die because of me."
He smiled, politely. "While I understand your stance on the matter, The Cullen Coven long ago signed an agreement with the local Quilleute Tribe. So we feed on animals, and we live among Humans."

Alexis folded her arms across her chest. This was a curious predicament. She'd never met vampires who didn't feed on humans. And they had some sort of agreement with them? Wow, Alexis had never, in all of her years, heard of such a thing.
"Well, that is extremely surprising." She nodded thoughtfully. "And certainly not what I was expecting to hear."
She had two choices-she could end the meeting now and go about her typically lifestyle, while in the process alienating other vampires in the area, or allow him to explain a bit further. Alexis was not one for having friends, but she did appriciate allies. And she was not in the mood for an all out turf war with other vampires.
"Dr. Cullen, that's a very interesting scenario. Perhaps I might be interested in joining in with your plans-for the sake of the vampire community, of course."

"Ms.London. If you think I will sign some sort of pact and allow you to feed on the people around here, you are sadly mistaken." Carlisle's voice was terse, cold, icey. His gaze was just short of a glare, his temper obviously flaring.
"I do not simply feed on animals because of a treaty. I do it because I think killing Humans is morally incorrect, and even disgusting. I actually remember my time among the living with a certain fondness. You may see them as merely a food source. I may not be able to argue with that, due to the sheer scale of your bias towards that particular diet, it would solve nothing. But I can say that letting you kill friends I have known around here for 2 years is the option that brings me the most disgust. " He was clearly angry know, his face a frown, his tone heated and steely.
Mentally, he was furious. How dare she? How dare she. She would encroach upon this place and attempt to tear apart a relative harmony that he had fought to establish.

Alexis slipped her hands into her coat pockets, a slow smirk spreading across her face. Cullen's reaction entertained her. He was quite possessive of his human relations. She'd never met any vampire like that in all of her life.
"Forgive me, Dr. Cullen, I said no such thing. In fact, I was quite willing to entertain your animal idea, even hear you out...but if you'd rather I didn't....."
Alexis pulled her car keys from her pocket, she turned and took a few quick steps to the car's driver's side door.
"I also never said I didn't remember my human time with fondness," she informed him, "in fact they made me exactly who I am at this second."
She unlocked the door, turned back to Cullen, and smiled sweetly at him.
"You've no idea who you're dealing with, Dr. Cullen. You have no idea of my life story. I'm also a woman of my word. So in that matter, you can trust me when I say that if you chose not to work with me on this matter, I could make Forks a very ugly place for vampires."
Alexis pulled the car's door open and stepped gracefully inside. Closing it, she pressed the key into the ignition.
"I'm more than willing to keep peace, Dr. Cullen. I dislike drama. And while I have no loyalties to humans, I wouldn't dream of angering my own kind without just cause."

"Dislike drama, hmmm?" Carlisle said, obviously glad to see her going.
"Isn't life a game, and we're all merely players?" He chuckled, but it was tinged with the remnants of rage. He tapped on the car window and simply said "This is not the place for you, Ms.London. You may see my ways as you like. I feel no ill will. I will not bear a grudge for your rudeness. All I can say is that any threat you send my way will be met with an amused chuckle." Before he calmly strode to his own car.
