Jasper stared back at the dog in front of them his eyes burning into him and his body positioned in front of Alice. He would be damned if this filth would touch a single hair on her head. A constant growled sounded from him as he kept the beast in his sights wanting nothing more then to attack the foul dog and rip him to shreds.
This wolf had not a clue what he was speaking of and Jasper couldn't care less what he had to share or what he wanted or didn't want to do it was at the wolfs threat of destroying them if he got wind that they harmed one of his kind that Jasper's resolve broke and he saw red. Pure blood red caked everything around him and he wanted blood.
The werewolf bared his fangs in a loud snarl at them, so much so that you could see the tiny chips taken off his teeth, and the scars ripped into his lips. Jasper pushed Alice even more behind him and didn't even spare her a glance. "When I say you run. And god damn it don't argue with me Alice," he practically hissed at her as he kept his gaze focused on the other being.
He was about to attach his entire body tense and ready to attack when he felt Alice slip away from him and he heard a hysterical gasp fall from the lips of the only peson he ever loved and hear anguished sound cut through him to the core silencing the need for blood and violence in a moment.
"ALICE!" Jasper called out his vocie laced with worry and fear as he dropped to his knees next to her his hands cupping her face as he stared into her eyes the worry flooding over him as he felt Alice's fear hit him ten fold voer and over again.
"Calm down darlin...what is it?" Jasper asked trying to swallow down the dark tone of his vocie as he spared a glance behind him towards the retreating dog. It was only his loves condition which kept him rooted to his spot.
"Alice talk to me...please...did he do something to you?" Jasper growled with re-newed anger as the possibility crossed his mind.

"ALICE," she heard Jasper call out his voice laced with worry and fear as he dropped to his knees next to her his hands cupping her face as he stared into her eyes,
"Calm down darlin...what is it?" Unable to respond she just opened and closed her mouth. If tears were possible for a vampire she'd have had them streaming down her paler than normal face.
"Alice talk to me...please...did he do something to you?" Jasper growled.
She shivered slightly before refocusing to look at him instead of the spot the dog had left. "No," she said, sounding so small. She started to shake her head. "I saw him do something to you," she chocked out before launching herself at him and wrapping her arms around his neck, burying her face in the crook of his neck, taking a deep breathe.
This caused her to calm down a great deal just being able to touch and smell him and not the horrible blood from her vision.

Jasper stared into Alice's frantic eyes and it worried him to the bone that he had no clue what had happened to her. His hands softly stroked the side of her face as he tried to ease her fears with some calming waves but nothing seemed to be able to get through to her.
Jasper cringed at how small and scared her voice sounded. That wasn't his Alice; that wasn't the sound of her sing song voice which was the reason for him to even bother to go on one day to the other. Instead her voice sounded small and shattered a sound he had never heard before and he never wanted to hear again.
"I saw him do something to you."
"Alice..." but before he could even get another word out her small frame launched itself against him and he quickly enveloped her in his arms gently running his hands along her back hoping to calm her.
"I'm fine darlin...I'm perfectly fine but I need you to calm down," he whispered gently into her ear one hand still running the length of her back while the other laced through her hair soothingly.

As Jasper continued to reassure her that he was alright she started to relax, the sound of his voice and of course his gift, coursing over her. Taking a deep breathe she pulled back and shook her head.
"I'm sorry," she murmured. "I'm alright. I didn't mean to frighten you. IT was just...so real." Alice felt like such an idiot. She almost never over-reacted. Today was just a terrible day for the two of them. Taking a breathe she held up a hand, "Really. I'm fine now."

"No you're not," Jasper whispered his eyes still held the owrry he felt towards her. Whatever she had seen had bothered her; beyond that it had shattered her and Jasper never wanted to see her like that again.
He looked at her for a moment as she pulled away from him and the moment their connection was lost he felt the anger for the wolf creeping back into him as his eyes darted away from ALice and towards where the wolf had been. But he couldn't do that , not now not with Alice there and not with her that upset.
His eyes flicked back to her face and he brought his hand gently to the side of her face and stroked the side of her face gently as he leaned in and placed a gentle kiss on her lips.
"We've established I'm fine but you're not...tell me what you saw," Jasper whispered pulling away before wrapping his arms around Alice and manuevering her closer to him so that her back leaned against his chest as he rested his head along the crook of her neck his arms enveloping her.

His hand reached out and stroked the side of her face gently as he leaned in and placed a gentle kiss on her lips. Almost all that was left of her earlier scared feelings melted away as he maneuvered her closer to him so that her back leaned against his chest. He rested his head along the crook of her neck his arms enveloping her.
"We've established I'm fine but you're not...tell me what you saw," Jasper whispered.
Just sitting there with him caused a wave of content to wash over her. Knowing that he was safe and well...'alive' caused her to continue her route to trying to calm down. However she really didn't want to tell him what she had seen.
It had really shaken her but she should be used to seeing bad visions. She changed them after all. Bella was one example. It was more the fact that he had been in serious danger that caused her to freak out so badly. Anything about Jasper tended to make her freak out. She would do anything to keep him with her.
"It's nothing," she said, her voice starting to regain some of it's composure. "I just over-reacted. I wasn't thinking I'd see anything and it caught me off guard," she lied slightly.

Jasper exhaled lightly into her neck knowing she was lying to him he could sense it but he knew now wasn't the time tp push her any further. The hints of his Alice were coming back into her vocie and he would talk to her later about what she had seen or he knew she would talk with someone about it.
"If you say so then I believe you love," he whispered into her ear ebfore kissing her earlobe gently before trailing a string of kisses down the side of her face and neck savoring the touch of scent of her smell aaginst his lips.
His eyes caught sight of the necklaces which the wolf had left strewn upon the floor and a low growl echoed through his chest as his eyes took in teh string of vampire fangs.
"I would never let anything happen to you...I want you to know that. I would lay down my life for you in a moment if it meant knowing you were safe," Jasper whispered kicking out with his leg to scatter the necklaces away from them for the time.
"You are my life and my everything Alice Cullen," he whispered as his hand caressed the back of her neck and his lips kissed the nape of her enck biting the skin softly.

The feel of his lips caressing her skin made her lean back into him, eyes closing and a small sigh escaping. After a moment she felt the mood change as he growled. Her eyes opened quickly in alarm thinking that something was happening.
"I would never let anything happen to you...I want you to know that. I would lay down my life for you in a moment if it meant knowing you were safe." That was what she was afraid of she thought to herself truthfully.
Jasper kicked out with his leg to move something away from them and she remembered the necklaces. Her attention snapped back to him however.
"You are my life and my everything Alice Cullen," he whispered as his hand caressed the back of her neck and his lips kissed the nape of her neck biting the skin softly.
"Jasper," she said softly, hand moving to his cheek and after a moment she lightly moved away from his face, freeing her neck from his attention so she could look at him. "That's what I'm afraid of," she said, a smile playing on her lips, tainted with a twinge of sadness. "That you really would lay down your life for me."

Jasper watched as Alice pulled herself gently away from him his eyes focused on nothing else besdies her.
"I would Alice...without a second thought," Jasper whispered in response to Alice's fear.
"You're my life, my everything and I could never even fathom a world without you or even think of someone harming you. I gave my life to you years ago Alice...you've had it since that moment in the diner. You saved my life that day and I will do everything in my power to save yours...no matter the cost," Jasper said calmly as he stroked the side of her face gently as he spoke to her.
It was something he had decided upon long ago. As long as he was around and able he would do anything to ensure Alice was alive and well. She was his world and without her he had nothing so he would always protect her because without her there was nothing else.
"Did I ever tell you how much I love you?" he asked softly as he leaned in and kissed her gently and passionately.

As Jasper spoke Alice started to shake her head. "No Jasper you don't understand," she said, sounding defeated. He continued to stroke her face causing her to have a hard time concentrating like any time he was so close. "I can't-," she started to get out before he spoke again.
"Did I ever tell you how much I love you?" he asked softly as he leaned in and kissed her gently. No sooner than it had started it began to escalate. It turned from a simple sweet kiss to a passionate one. Her fears started to slip away as she lost focus and kissed him back. Alice's hands wandered slightly, one ending up on his cheek the other resting on his collar bone.
When the kiss finally ended she let out a small sigh and after a moment her eyes opened again. Stroking his cheek she moved to lean into his chest, resting her head on it. She took a moment to try and recall her thoughts before her eyes flickered back up to his. "Jasper." I...I can't live without you."
Alice took a breathe before continuing, "If the fight I saw had taken place I would have rather died than have to live without you. It was such a terrible vision. It was worse than seeing Bella in the studio."

Jasper frowned slightly as he immediately picked up on the defeated hint Alice's voice carried. He smiled gently back at her as he felt her hand stroke his cheek, he adored the sensation of her soft skin against his face. There were times that he wished the physical connection between them would never end but then again they couldn't spend the rest of eternity just sitting together though he would be for it he was sure it woould lose its appeal to Alice after the first few missed shopping trips.
Jasper allowed his arms to wrap around Alice protectively as she rested her head against his chest. His arms fully enveloped her shielding her from some unseen froce as he held her close inhaling in the scent of her soft hair as he rested his head again the top of her head. The scent of his one true love was something he would never tire of.
"I won't live without you," Jasper whispered once Alice finished speaking. He now could piece together what exactly Alice had seen in her minds eye and he understood why it had gotten her so upset.
"I'm sorry you had to see that love...I never want to see you like that again," Jasper whispered still recalling the shattered appearence of his wofe moments ago.
"But my job is to see that no harm ever comes to you Alice Cullen and I will always stay true to that and as long as I can help it I will never leave you," Jasper whispered her promising her all he could.
"That was the worng answer by the way," Jasper whispered in Alice's ear with a smile as he touched back on her neglect to answer their ago old question in the expected manner.

Having Jasper so close to her helped her calm down immensely more than with his power. This was one thing she would not let him make her calm on. His voice soothed her as he whispered in her ear causing her to relax even more into him.
He wouldn't live without her? Well she wouldn't live without him. Hopefully this would make him think the next time he started to make a dangerous decision. Alice felt a bit of anger flare up in her as he promised her. That wasn't good enough. It was her job just as much as his job to protect the other.
"That was the worng answer by the way," Jasper whispered in Alice's ear with a smile as he touched back on her neglect to answer their ago old question in the expected manner.
"Yes well you answered wrong too," she nearly snapped at him, still upset as she pushed her head off his chest and looked at him. "You're supposed to say I understand that you can't live without me just as I can't live without you. That I refuse to like you refuse to. It's not fair that you can go and protect me while I have to watch you get hurt maybe even die."
A frown creased her face as she bit her lip, looking away from him instead of up at him now. She let out a shaky sigh and closed her eyes for a moment, her forehead resting on his chest again before whispering, "Never enough..." Her anger started to seep away. She'd gotten out what she needed to.

Jasper stared back at Alice very much confused by her sudden mood change from calm to angry. He couldn’t understand what it was she had to be angry with him for. She was his life and it was his job and his want to protect her no matter what the cost to himself was.
As her angry words bit back at him he sat silently and looked back at him a small frown on his face and his eyes gently creased with confusion in regards to everything. He had stood by Maria’s side without question and even without the love and adoration he felt for Alice. He had murdered in the name of that evil woman and he didn’t see…didn’t understand what the difference was in doing everything he needed to in regards to protecting the one he loved.
He remained silent even after answered properly the hurt he felt by her words apparent in his eyes but he wouldn’t word them. He saw her point and understood what she wanted from him, how she needed him to be. But this was something his condition wouldn’t allow because it was more then just that. He had always been a soldier even when he was mortal. His job was to protect innocent lives, lives he cared for and cherished it was a part of him that couldn’t be changed. The anger that resounded in Alice’s voice on the matter made him slightly fearful that this would prove to be a crossroads for them.
This was something he couldn’t give her; but he would try none the less but he knew he wouldn’t be able to promise her that and as she rested her head back against his chest he stayed silent not having any words to say except for the two which left his lips the ones he felt he was always saying these days.
“I’m sorry,” he had nothing else to give her at the moment but that and even he knew that wasn’t enough.

The silence was deafening. Alice already felt bad about what she had said to him. She knew that it was instinct for him. Besides back in the day it had always been the men protecting the women. It seemed like that would probably be one thing to never change.
“I’m sorry."
Jasper's words cut through her mind and she instantly felt her slightly guilt increase by ten fold. She hadn't meant to make him miserable with her statement. She'd just wanted him to understand.
Her forehead still resting on his chest with her eyes closed she chuckled slightly, sadly. "Oh Jasper....don't be sorry," she said, lifting her forehead and looking at him. "I just keep forgetting some of the things that make you, you. So I am sorry. You were just being my husband. My Jasper."
She now felt worse than before. She hadn't meant to snap so harshly at him. The vision must have startled her more than they normally do. She hadn't exactly had any dangerous visions in a while. Maybe she just needed to practice. Just because everyone's lives aren't in danger doesn't mean she shouldn't practice her gift. After all she could always work on trying to figure out why she can't see Jacob and the pack.
Glancing at him she bit her lip before murmuring, "Did I ever tell you how much I love you?" The careful tone in her voice told she was asking forgiveness. Hopefully if he answered in their special way she'd know things were well. She held her breathe as she waited for the response.

Jasper could immeidately feel Alice's guilt envelope them both and he immediately sent a calm over her hoping to ease the feeling from her. It hadn't been his intention at all to make her feel guilty about her words. It was the way she felt the things she believed in and she had every right to feel them just as he had every right to feel the way he did. It seemed as if on this one topic alone they would have to agree to disagree and hope that it didn't kill them both in the long run.
Jasper's eyes immediately locked with Alice's as she spoke. He knew she hadn't meant to be angry with him but the thing was he could see where she had every right to be but this was just soemthing he could not move on. He adored her more then life itself and he would travel to hell happily if it meant she was alive and well. A part of him knew she would be devestated should anything happen to him but there was another part a small whisper of his soul that believed she would be better off in the long run if he were to be taken from her life. He could never leave on his own accord he loved her too selfishly and completely but if he was taken from her he knew she would be better for it.
He smiled slightly as he ehard the question they had given back and forth to each other for years now and his hand gently stroked her cheek as he pressed his lips against her forehead and whispered.
"Never enough."
